Sailfish Surprise: Flats Fishing Adventure in Shalimar's Winter.

Had a great day out on the flats with Soundarya and their crew from Ashish Test Company. December fishing in Shalimar, FL can be hit or miss, but we lucked out with some decent weather. It was partly cloudy, which actually helped us spot fish easier without the glare. We met up at 11:15 am and headed out to some prime spots in the Kaveri River Basin.

We focused on sight fishing and poling around the flats, keeping our eyes peeled for any movement. The partly cloudy skies made it easier to spot fish, and we had our soft plastic lures ready to go. It didn't take long before we spotted our target - an Atlantic Sailfish cruising the shallows. Soundarya made a perfect cast, and the fish couldn't resist. After an awesome fight, we landed a beautiful 40-inch Atlantic Sailfish. That's a catch you don't see every day in these waters!

The rest of the day was spent exploring different areas of the flats, always on the lookout for more fish. We saw a few more promising signs but couldn't quite connect. That's fishing for you - sometimes you get lucky, sometimes the fish win. But landing that Atlantic Sailfish made the whole trip worthwhile. It's not often you get to sight fish for a species like that in the flats, so it was a pretty special moment for all of us.
